I wish I was born in Manchester. My husband says I should have been. He thinks we may eventually be forced to move there. LOL

Welcome Jana! We're glad you're here. Don't worry about your English. English is my first language and I can barely be understood most of the time. :-)

Docterjoy: Yeah, thanx, NO forever! Let's spread the word!

Jen: Thanks for welcome and the Barney's Angels concept. I was feeling awkward 'cause the most people in my town - Salvador, Bahia - don't love NO (and Mr. Sumner) as I do. In fact, people around me don't even know what's about. Pretty shocking, eh, since people who live at some others parts in Brazil like Rio, São Paulo and Brasília - where I used to live, btw - are crazy about them (you should check their gig in those cities on YouTube- it was such a madness!).
English... In fact, I'm really concerned if I'm not being careless about someone else's language, so I'm trying hard to learn it and then, maybe, I'm gonna be able to talk to you guys correctly! And Angels, thanx for the warm welcome, you've been so nice to me, I already feel like home!:face-smile:

Hello, I have just joined up and it seems to be a welcome and friendly place. I have been a Barney and all that goes with that fan since the marvellous discovery I made listening to John Peel years ago, he was a good chap. Transmission was my introduction and subsequently bought and the music has been a sort of life soundtrack to this day. I live in the Czech Republic which is an oasis for music, ok, that was a lie but there are a couple of good artists and with originality. I struggle with the language so some joy is lost I am sure. I look forward to chatting away soon.

Greetings, fleaby! This is a VERY friendly place.

    Welcome, fleaby!
This is a warm place full of nice people, for sure...
I know this struggling-language feeling, since I'm not a native speaker of English as well. So please, don't be shy. Enjoy!!!

    Hi everyone,
I just joined up- I'm glad I found this place (only wish I had joined earlier). I've been a NO fan since 87 and am originally from Florida, now living in rural North Carolina where as far as I know nobody has heard of New Order, much less the virtues of Barney. Let's just say that I've exhausted my husband's interest on the subject! It's going to be so nice to talk with others who get it!:face-smile:

    Hi, Everyone!
A brand newebie for ya`s all...i stumbled onto this discussion board thru wikipedia..i was searching for more ideas on new wave and 80`s tunes (cause I`m not only a fan of New Order, but Iggy, Siouxsie, and several more) when I got led to your site...reading thru some of the blog was great...i came up with some great stuff...added about a hundred songs to my playlist 2day alone!!!You guys also turned me on to The Wombats...I had heard a couple of songs, but was fuzzy as to who they really were...another direction 4 my musical research..lol..and now I have to check out The Stills cause I am a Canadian, and to not do so would simply be unpatriotic!!I think that you have made a great little oasis here in which to discuss similar musical tastes...my fiancee doesn`t get my somewhat eclectic taste at all...lol...and it is great 2 find a spot like this...you are all so friendly and knowledgable that I can`t wait 2 pick your collective musical brains...and did i mention that I am long winded:)...looking forward to visiting

I'm fairly new to the music scene but I've fit in quite well! BTW, my favorite bands are New Order, Joy Division, The Cure, Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Cocteau Twins, and a whole lot of others ranging from indie to heavy metal.

Hey you Canadian fellow! I'm from Canada too! Welcome aboard! I'm glad you discovered the great music of The Wombats and The Stills!:face-smile:

I hope you will enjoy your stay here! :face-smile:

Hello Willow! Welcome and enjoy our board!:face-smile:
  8.
OK angels, i forgot to introduce myself properly here. I went to other forum discussions when i found this site about a week ago.
So, i will start all over.
I'm form the NYC 38 yr ol', guys can call me Gigi or Ginger. Like iv'e mentioned in this forum before, i wasn't paying too much attention to Bernard back in the 80'. I loved NO music and was a big fan of the Smiths. Andy Rourke the Bassist form the Smiths was my love (now he works with Hooky on the Freebass band). I'm the kind of person who gets tired from everything in life n lookin for new things all the time. So, my love for the 80's music was abandoned by me at the beginning of the 90's. A few Months ago i heard one of the Smiths songs (there's a light that never goes out) in a movie n was amazed at how i forgot this amzing band form the 80's. I started venturing on the 80's music again and came across JD n NO, but JD really did it for me. It came in a time in :face-angel:my life where i needed this dark amazing sad but joyful music. What more can i say, I'm in love with Barney like a 16 yr ol' and cannot get over JD's powerful music.

It's great being in a place where i can feel 16 again n be in love with middle age pop stars. Lol........

That's cool, about Hooky and the Smiths bassist working together, just like Electronic. Actually, when I was going through a bad time in my life, bands like JD made me feel better, along with taking martial arts.

Wow Dr.J, Martial arts, cool. Sports is one of the great things that really helps in releasing stress. I used to go to gym for years and it really helped. I stoped doing that cuz i was too busy, but hopefully i'll be back soon to weight lifting.
